Underground

Wednesday, July 23rd, 2008

I just came back from London a few days ago. I was there on vacation, shooting some pictures. Oh, and I got a new camera, a Canon EOS 450D or Rebel XSi as it’s called in the states. I got myself a shiny (or not so shiny, since it’s black) new lens too. A Sigma 18-125mm with Optical Image Stabilization and the whole shebang.
I shoot this photo on the way back to the hotel after a few pints, I should probably crop it a little.

Holmenkollen

Tuesday, May 27th, 2008

I was walking the dog yesterday, when I looked up at the Holmenkollen ski jump that overlooks Oslo, anyway, the sun was low and the light was just perfect. So I finished the walk really fast, sorry Balder, and ran back with my camera. Alas, the moment was gone. But I still shot a few frames, since I was already there, and this one looked alright.

Horizon in the Sky

Saturday, May 24th, 2008

I shot this picture last summer, on a trip to London. Usually most photos taken through a plane window look like crap, so I guess that makes this one a little special. It’s a little grainy, since my camera doesn’t handle the high ISOs that well. Notice the moon?

Building Workers

Tuesday, May 20th, 2008

Here’s a photo I took in Brussels on a school trip. I had expected to come home with a load of new photos on my camera, but I only managed to take a few. This one is quite nice though, I think it looks cool. The only fault is that if you look closely, there’s a light “halo” around the worker on the left. I don’t know why it’s there, might be the jpeg compression or something. I can fix it but I’m to lazy right now.

I edited the photo in lightroom, to enhance the colors and contrast etc. I thought it might be interesting to post the original as well as the finished version.
Original version.

Here’s another picture from Italy, but not Venice this time. It’s taken in a church, but I don’t remember where it was. My dad probably knows. The best thing about this one though, is that I haven’t edited it at all after I took it. I’m not against editing photos in Photoshop etc, I do it all the time, but I love when things just work and I can take a nice photo with only my camera.

Venice Sunrise

Saturday, March 15th, 2008

Here’s another one from Venice. On the last day of my stay there, I got up really early, and even though it hurt it was totally worth it. First of all, the light was just perfect. But you had to be quick, as the sun rose so fast. Second, there were no tourists. The only people I saw was locals opening their shops and heading for work, a couple of people leaving for an early flight, and other photographers.

This is a photoshop edit of a picture I posted some days ago. I ‘m still not satisfied though, so I might give it another go later.

Lion in Venice

Sunday, January 20th, 2008

This is a picture I took in Venice this fall. Since Venice’s patron is St. Mark the Evangelist the city is virtually littered in statues of lions. This was an ageing stone lion protruding from a wall. As I walked past I had to take a few shots, and I’m pleased with the result.
